What's Guy Fawkes Night?

Search For Homes

Guy Fawkes Night (also known as Bonfire Night, Cracker Night, Fireworks Night) is an annual celebration on the evening of the 5th of November. It celebrates the foiling of the Gunpowder plot of the 5 November 1605 in which a number of Catholic conspirators, including Guy Fawkes, attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London, England.

In the United Kingdom, celebrations take place in towns and villages across the country in the form of both private and civic events. They involve fireworks displays and the building of bonfires on which "guys" are burnt. These "guys" are traditionally effigies of Guy Fawkes, the most famous of the Gunpowder Plot conspirators.

What does this have to do with Kissimmee you might ask? Well, this year the British American Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Guy Fawkes Night at Kissimmee's Heritage Park opposite our very own Watson Realty office. It will feature all the sparklers, food, drinks, games and bonfire traditionally associated with the UK holiday, excluding the legendary cold weather of a English November night! It will be a great, fun, family evening! Come and join us! The fun starts at 6pm and admission is only $2!
